AmarooSchoolisacommunityschoolthatcatersforstudentsinour'PriorityEnrolmentArea'(PEA)andourproceduresareconsistentwiththeACTDepartmentofEducationandTraining'spolicy.
Theschoolfacilitiescaterforupto1,300studentsfrompreschooltoyear10. Thepreschool,representingstage1oftheproject,openedatthestartof2003. Stage2,includingtheprimaryclassroombuilding,administration,canteenandhall,openedforthestartofthe2004schoolyear. Stage3,incorporatinghighschoolclassrooms,gymnasium,specialistfacilitiesandlibraryresourcescentre,openedatthestartofthe2005schoolyear. Theschoolcostjustover$30mandtheprojectwasfundedwithassistancefromtheCommonwealth.
Theschoolhasoneprincipalandsharescommonfacilities,includingadministration,library,gymnasium,hallandcanteen. Thesefacilitieshavebeendesignedtoallowfortheneedsofthedifferingagegroupsandstaffrequirements.
ThebuildingsarefullycabledtomeettheITneedsofthevariousclassareasincludinglocalcomputernetworksandinternetaccess.Aswithotherschools,arangeoffacilitiesareavailableforcommunityuse.
